So he finally broke out of his “Hey I’m a bad ass look how strong my arms are” roles that I love so much to dip his toe into the world of Indie comedy. I am of course all about this because I for one think the man is freaking hysterical in interviews and any behind the scenes type stuff we get the chance to see. However the Ingenious film Jeremy Renner starred in can’t quite make the break through to theaters due to funding. So what is the production company, Arriba Films doing to solve this problem? They’re utilizing Kickstarter to bring us our Renner fix. Read on for more info.
Kickerstarter, a funding platform for creative projects, is often used to help new/independent film makers get their projects the money they need to make it into festivals or even just to get the gear they need to make a movie at all. You don’t often see big names like Dallas Roberts and Jeremy Renner on the site. Investors called “Backers” donate money to help make people’s dreams come true. In return for backing the project the investor will get something in return.
Arriba Films is currently looking for Backers in numerous monetary brackets with pretty neat rewards being offered in each category to support Ingenious. I personally donated $25 and for that I’ll get a DVD with deleted scenes and behind the scenes featurettes. If you are wealthy and would like to invest as a significant backer you can even get a Producer credit and attend a screening in NYC or LA! That’s pretty sweet.
As I’ve made pretty clear I’ll do just about anything in my power to help Jeremy’s career. He’s having “his moment” and it can’t last forever. I’ll do my best to help it last as long as possible because in my opinion he is a lot more talented than most actors in Hollywood. I also think this is a really Ingenious way for a bigger name to utilize Kickstarter. Arriba Films is almost at their goal. You can back them by clicking HERE. I was just admiring those lovely arms in The Avengers yesterday.
I definitely would like to see him in a comedy role, should be good! He should still show a little arm though.
That movie looks amazing! I’m not quite as big a fan girl as you are Lee, however I admit that Jeremy is an amazing actor and I would give anything he is in a look see. This one looks like a winner! Can’t wait.
