The Origin Of Disney’s John Carter!

by Lee on February 22, 2012

Up in my spare bedroom I have boxes full of what I consider crap, but what my Father in law considers treasure. And somehow this treasure has been passed down to my husband. I’ve glanced through it before but have yet to find anything that moves me or that I’d be willing to display in my home. I did however find an entire set of books known as the Barsoom series written by the amazing Edgar Rice Burroughs, famous for Tarzan. They are based around two characters known as John Carter, an Earthman on Mars and Dejah Thoris, a Martian Princess. They work together to defend Mars and its dwindling resources.

I’m now considering reading all of these books (Eleven all together) because Disney is releasing John Carter in Theaters on March 9th. I’m being treated to a screening this Thursday night and I’m looking forward to telling you all about it.

John Carter is being played by Friday Night Lights star Taylor Kitsch, who is also known as Gambit from the X-Men series. I don’t think it would be at all out of line to say that he is one of the sexiest men alive so this is probably the part I’m most looking forward to.

Is anyone else planning on seeing John Carter?

Haven’t heard about this movie yet. But I’m curious about it. I’m also looking forward on your next post about this! :)

I had wondered where this movie had come from. I have heard of the Barsoom books but never read them. Guess I am going to have to check this one out.
